If you are considering using the P-MICS DB, please make sure to confirm the following before applying for P-MICS DB usage.
- 1. Conditions and scope of the use required of the P-MICS DB users
- 2. Features of the P-MICS DB
- 3. Preliminary consultation for P-MICS DB usage
- 4. Reference information for considering P-MICS DB usage
1. Conditions and scope of the use required of the P-MICS DB users
- In principle, the user is required to sign a usage agreement with the chairperson of the NCCHD, which includes the terms and conditions of the collaborative research by the non-NCCHD researchers listed in the research protocol of P-MICS DB usage and the listed researcher(s) who belong(s) to the NCCHD. However, researchers who belong to the NCCHD are not required to sign a usage agreement. All of the above researchers must follow the procedures other than the usage agreement in compliance with the P-MICS DB Usage Guidelines.
- Only those who are designated on the application form as database users can extract necessary information from the data stored in the P-MICS DB as a dataset for analysis and generate statistical information through statistical processing via a designated computer terminal located in the statistical analysis area. In addition, only those who are listed on the application form as users of statistical information can use statistical information that has been moved outside the statistical analysis area by database users.
2. Features of the P-MICS DB
It is important to fully understand the features of the P-MICS DB and consider whether it is possible to use it for your purposes.
- ①The information stored in the P-MICS DB includes patient information, medical information such as disease information, prescription and injection drug information, specimen testing and results information, and other information to be determined separately upon consultation with each cooperating medical facility (e.g., information on transportation such as admission and discharge, meal order information, physiological test information, pathological test information, radiological test information, and other testing information) and medical interview information, all of which are stored in the database, allowing the use of a wide variety of information.
- ②The data stored in the P-MICS DB is updated daily, enabling the use of real-time information.
- ③The reliability of the system and data is ensured by comparing the DWH of the hospital information system owned by the cooperating medical institutions with the data stored in the SS-MIX2 server, confirming that the necessary data is accurately extracted from the database and transmitted to the external data center. (The data is under verification for the Trial Use Period)
- ④The cooperating medical institutions consist primarily of children's hospitals and pediatric clinics, allowing the use of the data on pediatric patients from both hospitals and clinics.
- ⑤Medical information that can be used by the user includes information on the patient's age (date of birth) and gender, but does not include the name, address, zip code, patient ID number, or the name and staff number of the medical personnel involved in the patient's treatment and follow-up and does not include information other than the minimum necessary medical information for the user to use. Therefore, it is necessary to consider this information when evaluating the efficacy and safety of a drug.
- ⑥The number of cooperating medical institutions is limited, which limits the traceability of information on patients' visits to other medical institutions (before visiting a hospital, after transferring to a hospital, and related moves) and its coverage of the population.
3. Preliminary Consultation for P-MICS DB Usage
Those who wish to make use of the P-MICS DB will consult with the secretariat on the feasibility of conducting academic research within the scope of the basic statistical information for users that is made available by the secretariat before submitting an application.
4. Reference information for considering P-MICS DB usage
- Purpose of Publication
Reference information for considering P-MICS DB usage provides basic information such as specifications of the P-MICS DB, available information, and data characteristics for the purpose of considering P-MICS DB usage and facilitating appropriate use.
This information is provided with the cooperation of the P-MICS DB cooperating medical institutions on condition that it will be used for the purposes related to the usage described above. Please use this information after confirming the purpose of publication and the following notes and agreeing to comply with the terms of use. - Compliance Rules
The P-MICS DB must not be used, reprinted in other materials, sold, or distributed for any purpose other than those related to the above usage of the P-MICS DB. - Points to be Considered
Please note that direct inquiries to the P-MICS DB cooperating medical institutions are not possible.
Please be aware that the secretariat will not respond to individual inquiries regarding the contents of the announcement.
